Longreach Town Band ready to perform in 2012
If you used to play an instrument, and sometimes think you'd like to get back to it, now is the time!
If you have never played an instrument and want to learn, now is also your time! It doesn't matter if you don't know anything about music - come ready to learn and we'll teach you. Look to the right for the details of our current trial offer or turn up to a band rehearsal to meet the members and find out what being part of our band is like. Band Membership costs $80 per annum. However, it costs nearly $400 per member per year to run the band. We gratefully receive some support from community groups and service organisations. Some members are also very generous donors, however this is not a requirement. We ask our members to give to their community one and a half hours per week of rehearsal time, and a minimum of two hours private practice. To avoid fundraising, we would rather play out as often as possible and receive a contribution for our efforts. When that doesn't happen, we need to be on the streets selling raffle tickets.

Learn With Us
Longreach Town Band offers individual learning sessions
Longreach Town Band always welcomes adults desirous of learning a brass instrument.
No prior experience is necessary! "I can't play!" Don't say that until you have had a go for 12 weeks. After your 12 week 'try out', you'll spend: 90 mins in rehearsal weekly 30 mins at your weekly lesson 30 mins self-paced practice 4-5 times weekly 60 mins at layouts about every second week 60 mins in a weekly sectional Should you wish to continue as an instrumentalist after your trial period you can discuss ongoing training opportunities and becoming a playing member. Trainees may choose from cornet, baritone, euphonium, trombone and tuba. Learners on the trial period are required to pay $80 to join the band.
